All About Bob!

| April 8, 2014 | Parties

The Party
The Athenaeum, in conjunction with Quint Contemporary Art, presented new work by San Diego’s most famous artist, Robert Irwin.

The Scene
For a man who rather dislikes the spotlight (understatement), Irwin was surely in it, donning his signature baseball cap. Art enthusiasts came out in full force for the weekend’s double Irwin feature, luring the likes of LACMA VP John Bowser; Timken Director John Wilson; arts patron Stacy Jacobs; and daughter of the late artist Manny Farber, Amanda Farber. Meanwhile, a who’s who of SoCal artists included Jack Brogan, Kelsey Brookes and Adam Belt.

The Highlights
Calling all collectors! This spring, Quint is publishing a book on the conceptual artist with S.D. star photographer Philipp Scholz Rittermann, an Irwin collaborator who most recently teamed up on a Murals of La Jolla project. It will highlight Irwin’s dizzying roster of projects and exhibitions from 2012 to 2013. The catalog will feature Irwin’s installation Palm Garden from LACMA, works from the Whitney, gallery installations from Pace New York and Pace London, and beloved San Diego projects including the federal courthouse. –Photography by Tim Hardy,
