The Party
The San Diego Natural History Museum’s annual Fossil Ball gala marked Balboa Park’s centennial and the 140th anniversary of the museum itself.

The People
More than 200 museum patrons came out for the historic night, which raises money and awareness for The Nat’s research efforts and public programs, including gala chairs Allison Henderson, Pam Palisoul, Demi Rogozienski and Jessica Rohm. The gala also celebrated the recent opening of the Dennis & Carol Wilson Hall of Biodiversity, which houses the stunning new exhibit, Coast to Cactus in Southern California. Other special guests included honorary chairs Joye Blount and Jessie J. Knight Jr., Doris and Peter Ellsworth, and Harley K. Sefton accompanied by fiancee Maryanne Carlin.

Best in Show
The entire evening was a study in retro-done-right from the newsboy greeters to the photo ops in a vintage-inspired electriquette. Guests sipped era-appropriate drinks like the French 75 and Singapore Sling before dining and dancing in the transformed atrium. The parting gift? A teddy bear—made popular by Theodore Roosevelt who visited the Panama-California Exposition in 1915. Now that’s one for the history books. –Photography by Jamie dickerson,
