The Party
Patrons sipped and savored their way around the Hyatt Regency La Jolla’s ballroom when the San Diego Wine Affair hosted its fourth annual event.

The Scene
Strands of cafe lights and flickering votives cast a soft glow over the room, which boasted bottles from more than 25 wine partners. Ultrapremium vintages flowed, with Merryvale, Ramey Cellars and Forgotten Barrels all pouring from limited-production releases. With glasses in hand, guests lounged on an array of leather banquettes and plotted their auction purchases, or hit the cuisine stations where everything from risotto to sliders and french fries was on offer, prompting many an oenophile to try their hand at pairing. When it was time to kick off the evening’s bidding, emcee Dan Cohen of CBS News 8 gathered the crowd for a Champagne toast that saluted the lifesaving work of the NICU at Scripps Encinitas, this year’s Wine Affair beneficiary.

The Highlights
As the auction wound down, S.D. band City Lights wooed guests onto the dance floor with a blend of jazz and soulful R&B. And when the last cork popped on the night, proceeds for the NICU totaled more than $100,000. Cheers! –Photography by Bekah Peace
