Here's a closer look behind the wardrobe of Puesto's bar and spirits creative director.
Beau du Bois started bartending on his 21st birthday and hasn’t looked back, collecting nearly every award in the industry as he developed cocktail programs at some of the top restaurants in the world, including the Michelin-starred The Restaurant at Meadowood in Napa and Ensue and Alcove in Shenzhen, China. Du Bois joined San Diego taco institution Puesto (eatpuesto.com) this year, just in time to put his signature touch on the cocktail menu at the new Puesto Mission Valley location, featuring margaritas on draft, large-format drinks for groups and seasonal sips.
My style hero is Ben Schneider of Lord Huron.
If I could turn back time, I would tell myself highlights are lame.
In the next year, I hope to train and develop over 100 bartenders in California.
Five things left on my bucket list are: make cocktails for Taika Waititi, design a tequila, witness my wife’s artistic career, buy a cabin and teach my future dog to catch a frisbee.
My worst fashion faux pas was wearing exercise pants in a social setting.
Having a martini with my wife is my idea of perfect happiness.
My most prized possession is gold skull cuff links by Alexander McQueen that I wore at my wedding.
The Dover Honing Co. cuts my hair.
My favorite place to shop for clothes in San Diego is Faherty.
