Botanical Bash

| May 25, 2012 | Parties

THE PARTIES The San Diego Museum of Art was rocking serious flower power for its 31st annual Art Alive festivities, kick-started by a Champagne reception and opening celebration held in the Sculpture Court. THE SCENE The hip garden party, buzzing with jazz faves from pianist Rick Ross, lured social butterflies aplenty. The night was fueled by St. Germain cocktails (our favorite floral reference) and bites from more than 20 top S.D. restaurants, including Nobu, Mille Fleurs and The Shores at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. BEST IN SHOW Talk about royalty! Floral designer Katherine Brozowski from Remember Me Nonprofit took first place for her petaled take on the Flemish oil painting “Queen Henrietta Maria of England.” THE HIGHLIGHTS Nearly 80 different botanical works were on view. From flower-covered stilt walkers and interpretations of masterpieces to the DalĂ-esque centerpiece in the rotunda designed by Pacific Event Productions, the museum was transformed into a living work of art.
