THE PARTY Fresh from a Today show appearance, chef mastermind Brian Malarkey greeted guests at a cocktail party to celebrate the arrival of Gabardine, the latest thread in the Enlightened Hospitality Group’s fabric empire, in the sleepy town of Point Loma. THE SCENE The sophisticated hideaway oozes a Euro-coastal appeal and just enough room for a big dinner party to feel cozy. The stone-topped seafood raw bar is punctuated by light fixtures made from antique fishing poles and strung with vintage Edison light bulbs (yes, those bulbs are here to stay). Red and white striped seat cushions beckon guests to sit and sip Spanish-style cocktails. BEST IN SHOW Executive Chef Chad White worked the room and gave serious sea-foodies a thrilling sample of his Portuguese-esque menu via passed canap├ęs of smoked swordfish burgers, shrimp and grits, and oyster shooters with liquid nitro wafers.
