The Party
When word got out that national organization Theater Communications Group was hosting its annual conference, Crossing Borders, in San Diego, a celebration pre-party was in order. And the buzz factor reached haute new heights, thanks to the fashion monolith.
The People
Neiman Marcus President Jim Gold, passionate about the company’s arts education initiatives, mingled with guests during the cocktail soiree. Also in the crowd: Lynelle Lynch, a longtime San Diego arts patron and trustee of TCG, whose mission is to strengthen, nurture and promote professional not-for-profit American theater.
Best in Show
Neiman Marcus transformed The Grand Del Mar’s Old World-inspired chapel, Capella, into a fashionable house of worship. On display: Monique Lhuillier’s brightly hued resort collection (hello, midriff!). For fall looks, the L.A. designer went darker with digitally printed neoprene frocks and the ultimate LBD dress, thanks to a midcalf hemline and sweetheart neckline. It sparkled extra, thanks to fine jewelry by Buccellati. Don’t be surprised if you see the look at the next La Jolla Playhouse opening. –Photography by Tim Hardy
