THE PARTY A social-circuit mainstay for more than three decades, the annual Celebrity Chefs Cook Gala brought together top toques and patrons of UCSD’s Moores Cancer Center. THE SCENE Delicately balancing plates and wine glasses so as not to dribble on their couture, guests in gowns and black tie navigated a courtyard of culinary temptations. Nibbles from Herringbone, The Marine Room, Pacifica Del Mar and a slew of other favorites whet the appetite for a four-course dinner with wine pairings, served in the Hyatt Regency La Jolla ballroom where KPBS star reporter Peggy Pico lent her moderating skills to the evening’s program. THE HIGHLIGHTS Having raised $1.4 million for MyAnswertoCancer, the center’s revolutionary personalized, targeted cancer therapy, guests took to the dance floor.
