Del Mar Thoroughbred Club’s 84th summer racing season, filled with favorite trackside events, kicks off July 21.
The iconic Del Mar Thoroughbred Club (dmtc.com) had a record-breaking year in 2022, with the highest daily average wagering and prize money seen in California. The club, which Bing Crosby co-founded in 1937, projects the summer 2023 racing season will be even better: It will feature record purses averaging more than $800,000 per day, plus a lineup of exciting trackside events from Friday, July 21 through Sunday, Sept. 10. Here’s a look at the anticipated summer season’s highlights.
July 21
Opening Day
Presented by Caesar’s Sportsbook, Del Mar’s opening day is filled with beloved traditions and fan-favorite components. Bet on 10 thrilling races, enjoy gourmet food and drinks, and don your best hat for the popular Opening Day Hats Contest.

July 22
Del Mar Beer Fest
Opening weekend continues with exciting wagering opportunities and this festival, presented by Alpine Beer Company, where beer fans can taste samples of over 50 brews, ciders and seltzers.
Aug. 5
Taste of New Orleans
This cultural celebration combines Southern and Western traditions and will feature New Orleans-inspired food and music.

Aug. 19
Uncorked: Del Mar Wine Fest
This popular festival provides an opportunity to taste over 150 wines from around the world and delicious food from local San Diego vendors.
Aug. 26
Tacos & Tequila
At this event presented by Patrón, guests can sip tequila, margaritas and Mexican beers, paired with tacos from top San Diego eateries.
Sept. 2
Pacific Classic
Don’t miss the club’s richest and most prestigious race, the $1 Million FanDuel Racing Pacific Classic.
