Den Mates

THE PARTY A thirsty crowd of VIPs gathered for a first look at Sycamore Den, new to Adams Avenue and the latest project from the design mavens at Bells & Whistles. THE SCENE Drawing inspiration from the den and rumpus-room culture of the 1970s, guests in glam loungewear cozied up to the repurposed oak bar for Hardly Wallbangers and Wolf Tickets, signature cocktails created by bar consultant Eric Johnson. THE HIGHLIGHT Bluegrass band The Big Decisions provided a haute-hippy soundtrack that played up the venture’s throwback vibe. Nostalgia ruled the night, from the vintage fixtures illuminating the banjo wall to the sunken fireside seating area, where guests grazed on gourmet renditions of stuffed mushrooms, macaroni and cheese, and pigs in a blanket. Owner Nick Zanoni took in the scene, an imaginative, dressed-up collage from his own suburban childhood, and proclaimed, “Dad would feel right at home having a drink here.” Photography by Be Water Photography/Diva Hammad
