Doriana Sinnett, “The Drummer” (2019, digital composition), 30 inches by 30 inches
Doriana Sinnett can’t help but stand out at Oceanside Museum of Art’s Artist Alliance Biennial, on display through May 31 (tickets $8, oma-online.org). Using her own drawings, photography and expertise in Photoshop, Sinnett heightens the essential beauty already found in nature with hyperkaleidoscopic tones. Her series, Music Theme, evokes the insights and emotions involved in music and art, two things Sinnett finds to be “the pinnacle of human creation.” This reverence rings clear throughout her work as she effectively tells the story behind the sounds she hears. Sinnett hopes the exhibit inspires more artists to utilize innovative technology in their techniques, if anything for the freedom digital art permits. “It can mimic different mediums, from acrylics to oil and pastels,” says Sinnett. “Just as an artist uses a brush and a sculptor uses clay, as a digital artist my canvas is a computer screen enabling me to explore my vision in infinitude.”
