Who doesn’t love an excuse to sip and snack waterside in gorgeous Southern California? Head to the stunningly modern Coasterra this Sunday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. for the 19th annual Harvest for Hope. This one-day festival will be filled with cuisines from more than 25 high-end local restaurants and tastings from local craft breweries and wineries, with all proceeds benefitting families struggling with pediatric cancer.
The event is presented by the Emilio Nares Foundation, whose mission works to support families with kids battling cancer. This year, the nonprofit aims to raise $300,000 through the food-lovers festival for the Emilio Nares Foundation. Celebrating its 19th year, the foundation was formed in 2003 after Diane and Richard Nares lost their five-year-old son, Emilio, to pediatric cancer. Now, the group works to provide free resources, like rides to the hospital, specialized cancer-treatment-friendly T-shirts, and nutritious snack bags for kids hospitalized with cancer.
“The flagship Ride With Emilio pediatric cancer patient transportation program ensures no child misses a life-saving cancer treatment due to lack of transportation in three Southern California counties, including San Diego County, Imperial County, and Orange County,” according to the nonprofit’s website.
The nonprofit has provided 4,000 rides for its community and continues to develop new aspects of its reach. At Harvest for Hope, the whole community joins together to support this noble cause.
There will be a large selection of beers and wines curated from local wineries, breweries, and purveyors. Check out the full list of vendors set to serve at this exciting event.
