Duke Windsor: Nothing’s Impossible
Food and art collide in Mount Helix-based artist Duke Windsor’s visual feast, on display at Oceanside Museum of Art. Inspired by traditional Dutch still lifes and gilded Russian paintings, Windsor’s Burger Series utilizes gold leaf in delicious depictions of classic American burgers that look good enough to eat. Mozart and Chevalier de Saint-Georges’ Violin Concerto
This beautiful concert celebrates the playfulness and gravity of late 18th century classical music, featuring the orchestra’s string players in the first half and the wind players in the second. First, violinist Jeff Thayer joins conductor Rafael Payare and the orchestra’s strings for a violin concerto by Black French composer the Chevalier de Saint-Georges, followed by a performance of Mozart’s Gran Partita by the wind instruments.
