The Party
Collectors and art lovers came out in full force to eye the work of this Mexico City artist.
The People
The international luminary working the crowd at this mod La Jolla gallery was Carmen Cuenca, the director of the revered Museo Rufino Tamayo in Mexico City. Also in the house: art collector Michael Krichman; one of San Diego’s most wanted artists, Kelsey Brookes; architect Jonathan Segal and Lux Art Institute’s Reese Shaw.
Best in Show
Glassford’s artwork mesmerized the crowd. It is molded from mirrored acrylic, anodized aluminum, holographic paper and fluorescent pigment. Mark your calendars for upcoming exhibits and opening nights with San Diego’s iconic artist Kim MacConnel, as well as Peter Halasz—he’s one to watch. We cherish MacConnel’s nearby mural in La Jolla, but this editor never grows tired of getting up close to his bold patterns. As for Halasz, this June exhibit marks his debut at Quint, showcasing his beautifully moody work. –Photography by Tim Hardy, shotbyhardy.com
