Fairmont Hotels has parternered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to launch Wishes Start Here, a new program dedicated to providing children with endless possibilities for lasting memories at Fairmonts around the world. In celebration of the initiative a kid-inspired dream playhouse, inspired by real Make-A-Wish children, was unveiled at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar on July 31.

The Ultimate Kids’ Playhouse was inspired by the fact that the most popular wish the foundation receives is for a playhouse. Earlier this year, a group of Make-A-Wish children were invited to brainstorm ideas for the playhouse with the children’s foundation and Fairmont.
This dream playhouse was then created, based entirely on the children’s designs, and placed in the Grand Del Mar. The wishes for this ultimate playhouse came true, including a spiral slide, space for dancing, a variety of building games, and a gorgeous living room with an impressive array of teddy bears. The playhouse will be open to Make-A-Wish children, while tickets for the general public will be available August through September.
Wishes Start Here will transform the lives of hundreds of children, giving them the opportunity to turn the treasures of their imagination into reality. Ranging all the way from life-altering experiences as a cowboy, chef, or princess, to Instagrammable vacation destinations, Fairmont will support the decades-long legacy of Make-A-Wish by granting the wishes of a lifetime.
In addition to The Ultimate Kids’ Playhouse, which will travel around the world to many different Fairmont Hotels, Fairmont will host “make-a-friend” play dates with other Fairmont guests and a new menu selection of “wish dishes” of which proceeds will go towards the foundation.
Throughout the three-year partnership, Fairmont’s goal is to grant more than 500 wishes and donate 1 million euros. The global luxury hotel enterprise will give guests the chance to join them in this goal, offering fundraisers, pledging opportunities, and other exciting initiatives around the world. In doing so, guests will be an integral part of the life-changing experiences.
Fairmont’s first global partnership comes after decades of efforts with Make-A-Wish, a nonprofit organization that fulfills the wishes of children with critical illnesses. Across the world, including the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East, Fairmont has previously aided the foundation in making dreams come true and continues to do the same.
