For over 60 years, The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch has painted the rolling hills of North San Diego with vibrant hues of over 70 million flowers in a coordinated display of natural color and beauty. The Flower Fields in Carlsbad is set to kick off its iconic celebration of spring on Wednesday, March 1.
The Flower Fields welcomes guests to “live colorfully” and experience the beauty of its 55 acres of Giant Telocte Ranunculus, a vibrant flower known for its large, double-petaled blooms that sit atop tall, straight stems. The springtime attraction will feature outdoor performances, flower-filled events, foodie favorites, and new exhibits and entertainment.

Flower frolickers and annual visitors can experience the return of fan-favorite events such as Tea in the Garden, Flower Flow Yoga, the Tractor Wagon Ride, Artist Gardens, and a Sweet Pea Maze and Cymbidium Orchid Greenhouse.
Events themed around plants and flora like The Meditation and Sound Healing Workshop, a Flower Design Workshop, and Toddler and Me Yoga Story Time will debut this season.
Special events like Kid’s Day on March 25 and a Canon Photography Workshop on April 16 will be sprinkled throughout the festival’s season. The season will conclude with a Mother's Day Celebration on May 14. The event will include entertainment throughout the day and performances by the Rancho Buena Vista High School’s Ballet Folklorico.
The Flower Fields’ rainbow of ranunculus lends itself to many Instagrammable moments. The endless rows of color-coordinated blooms create a stinkingly beautiful backdrop for Insta-worthy photo opportunities.
In addition to the vibrant rolling fields, the lush greenery and outdoor, whimsical backdrops entice many to visit from across the country for weddings, corporate functions, festivals, celebrations, and photoshoots.
“It is our distinct honor to serve as a multi-hued backdrop to so many family trips, romantic dates, and even proposals and weddings,” says Fred Clarke, General Manager of The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. “We look forward to all the memories in the making that 2023 holds.”
The Flower Fields Instagram feed highlights the beauty of the venue for everything from family portraits to weddings, engagement shoots, and fun, impromptu photo opportunities.
The wonder of The Flower Fields is a result of nearly 85 years of floral cultivation, beginning in the early 1920s. As one of San Diego’s most enduring and recognizable landmarks, The Flower Fields showcases nature’s artistry and celebrates the color and beauty of the region. Today, The Flower Fields symbolizes a synthesis of a robust working ranch and a regional tourist attraction.
