La Jolla Music Society sold out its Galaxy of Stars: WinterFest 2018 for a good cause and the opportunity to see musical masters perform.
THE PARTY On March 3, La Jolla Music Society’s WinterFest 2018 took place, a gala fundraising event featuring cellist Yo-Yo Ma, pianist Emanuel Ax and violinist Leonidas Kavakos. The famed longtime music collaborators performed the Brahms piano trios from their recently released Brahms: The Piano Trios, at Copley Symphony Hall after the gala event at the University Club atop Symphony Towers. THE GUESTS Gala chair Susan Hoehn and sponsor Debbie Turner welcomed guests for dinner in the University Club, which was decked out in gorgeous white florals, metallic finishes and twinkling lights to echo the evening’s theme. THE HIGHLIGHTS The lively gala raised $800,000, in part for La Jolla Music Society’s education program, which benefits more than 12,000 students throughout San Diego County and will expand as the organization moves into The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center in spring 2019. -Andrea Bennett
