Shot from a doorless helicopter, Gray Malin captures beautiful San Diego for his popular ariel series, À la Plage. From Del Mar surfers to La Jolla Shores Beach Club, Torrey Pines Beach and many coastal views inbetween, Malin's photographs make the perfect gift as the holiday season nears.

While photographer Gray Malin may best be known for aerial shots of exotic locales around the world, like the beaches of Australia and Positano, inspiration also lies in his own backyard. For his acclaimed À la Plage series, California’s coastline grabs a moment in the spotlight. “Shooting San Diego was a dream,” says Malin of the county’s 70-mile stretch of 31 beaches. Here, the Los Angeles resident captures Torrey Pines Beach from a doorless helicopter in all its sun-kissed glory. Up next, the legendary Hollywood Sign will get its Malin moment. @graymalin
