A Halloween Fete at Balboa Park

| December 5, 2016 | Parties

Masquerade Ball
San Diego’s finest flocked to Balboa Park for a Halloween-themed affair.

THE PARTY
Altruists, art patrons and San Diego’s social set celebrated Halloween weekend in style at the second annual Orange & Black Ball. Held at the Timken Museum, the fete raised funds in support of the museum’s year-round free admission as well as its art education programs, which include creative engagement classes with veterans, storytelling and art creation workshops for families, and more.

THE SCENE
Partygoers like Reena Horowitz and Alex Yáñez joined together with the ball’s co-chairs Jessica Cline and Jeanne Jones for a fabulous reception of Champagne and craft cocktails within the Timken’s many galleries. Guests were then led to the Prado Grand Ballroom for a live auction and a delicious supper of a baby beet and frisee salad; sea bass with lentils, spinach and preserved lemons; and pumpkin cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake for dessert.

THE HIGHLIGHTS
It wouldn’t be a true Halloween event without a spirited afterparty, and this one did not disappoint. From a professional fortune-teller to a live DJ and an overflowing candy bar, this soiree proved itself the chic new way to spend All Hallows’ Eve. ‒Meg MCGuire
