Heart and Soul

THE PARTY UC San Diego’s Heart of San Diego Gala was a Seussical affair, honoring Audrey Geisel, wife of the late Theodor “Dr. Seuss” Geisel, from the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad. THE SCENE Inside the whimsically decorated Grand Ballroom, Wayne Foster tickled the ivories while 400 partygoers danced and sipped a selection of colorful cocktails, followed by a cocktail reception and silent auction. BEST IN SHOW Geisel’s daughter, Lark Dimond-Cates, accepted the Heart of San Diego Award on behalf of her mother, a longtime donor. The 16th annual medical benefit has raised $470,000 to date to provide fellowships for medical students at UCSD’s Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center. Oh, the places they’ll go!
