Del Mar is thrilled to welcome you back to summer’s ultimate outdoor event. There’s nothing quite like the beauty and excitement of a day at Del Mar, where the turf meets the surf.
Summer officially kicks off on July 22nd with Opening Day – a tradition that dates back to 1937 when Bing Crosby welcomed the first fans to Del Mar. Tickets are already sold out for this year’s Opener but there are plenty of days ahead to plan your time at the track. Thoroughbred racing runs Friday through Sunday for the first week, then Thursday through Sunday for the remainder of the season – plus an added day of racing on Labor Day Monday before things wrap up on September 11th.
2022 will bring new events and activities to Del Mar’s summer season. Fridays will feature Happy Hour Fridays throughout the track, along with an upgraded Turf Club Fridays, where you can purchase single-day access to the exclusive Del Mar experience. Tickets include one daily Turf Club admission, seat and program, two drinks and a premium appetizer buffet – all for $125. 
In August, Del Mar presents three fabulous food and drink events. The Uncorked wine festival on Saturday, August 13 features over 100 wines and champagnes, along with food trucks and music. Taco & Beer Fest on Saturday, August 20 pairs San Diego’s best taco shops with 50 local and regional brews and seltzers. And on Saturday, August 27, Taste of New Orleans will bring Cajun food, drinks and music together for an epic celebration of New Orleans culture.
Back by popular demand is Daybreak at Del Mar. Every Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m., come out for breakfast and complimentary coffee while viewing the morning workouts from open-air table seating. Horsewoman and racing broadcaster Michelle Yu will be on hand each morning to provide insider insights.
As it is every year, Del Mar’s signature event – the $1,000,000 TVG Pacific Classic – will be the grand highlight of the summer season. The mile and one-quarter Classic runs for the 32nd time on Saturday, September 3rd. And Pacific Classic day will showcase a racing card featuring five stakes races:
All told, Del Mar will offer 39 major stakes for over $8,000,000 in purses, making it one of the strongest stakes schedules in the track’s history.
The track is back and it’s the place for a full season of fun and excitement. So gather your friends, make your plans and come out often to enjoy the summer, Del Mar-style.
