Glow on!
THE PARTY Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine hosted Flying for a Cure, a private party honoring retired Navy Captain John Constans who’s battling ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The evening’s playful flight theme, replete with airplane gobos, took a cue from Constans’ 30-year career as a pilot. THE SCENE The Paul Cannon Band warmed up the stage for headliner Tristan Prettyman, who performed hits like “Come Clean” and “Rebound” from her recently launched album Cedar + Gold. Before hitting the dance floor, partygoers bid on silent and live auction items, like a signed-guitar collection, including guitars from Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson. Local restaurants, from Urban Solace and Sbicca to Pacifica Del Mar provided bites for the evening, including a mac and cheese station and ice cream sundae bar in the main dining room. THE HIGHLIGHTS The nearly $90,000 raised during the night will support Team Godfather Charitable Foundation, a local nonprofit dedicated to raising funds for ALS medical research.
