The Party
Forget May gray. And never mind June gloom. Something always happens on San Diego Polo Club’s opening day. The clouds never fail to part for this annual rite of passage. Can you say, “Hello, sunshine!?”

The People
For the 28th annual opening day, nearly 3,000 fans came out to the picturesque fields, including 300 in Riviera’s VIP tent—decked out in stunning florals and decor by Kathy Wright & Co. Among the schmoozers in the tent was the fine crew from Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty, along with Blanchard, Krasner & French. Guests sipped wine from Gen 7 and other libations from Best Beverage Company, and nibbles came courtesy of The Wild Thyme.

Best in Show
With primo people-watching—the ladies dressed in flowing summer frocks and the gents in preppy finery—the divot stomp is always a highlight of the day. The 15-week season runs every Sunday through Sept. 28. Better pony up! –Photography by J. Dixx
