High Rollers

| February 23, 2012 | Parties National

THE PARTY Cards hit the table for the Rancho Santa Fe Community Center’s inaugural Celebrity Poker Tournament at the RSF Garden Club. THE PLAYERS Poker-faced guests, including MLB great Bret Boone and poker expert Richard Lederer, pulled up to the tables, but the title of “Champ of the Ranch” went to Michael Parziale of the night’s Pangea Group sponsors. THE SCENE Cocktails and live jazz flowed through the Vegas-style evening of No-Limit Texas Hold ’em. Novices were schooled at the beginners’ table while high rollers competed for big prizes like a weeklong getaway to Cabo. But lady luck was on everyone’s side: All guests received a swag bag valued at $1,400, with gift cards to local favorites like Martin Katz. BEST IN SHOW It was a lucky night for the RSF Community Center. The event raised more money for the organization’s mission to provide enrichment, recreation, and outreach in the community than their annual golf tournament. Well played! Photography by Tim King
