THE PARTY Opening day at the San Diego Polo Club is a rite of passage for the well-heeled, big-brimmed fashion set who lounged under Riviera’s VIP tent. As ever, the picturesque venue provided primo perches for pony-watching. THE SCENE In its 107th season, this year’s opening day lured the biggest crowd yet, with more than 2,700 coming out on this sunny, breezy day. Partygoers put their preppiest foot forward, dressing in summer seersucker and flowing sundresses. Meanwhile, Pow Wow vintage furnishings created chic vignettes including a decorative wall of polo mallets. As temperatures soared on the field, the shady lounges were prime real estate. Sipping signature cocktails from Best Beverage Catering and Country Wine & Spirits, partygoers relaxed under the vibrant parasols, nibbling mini Caprese sandwiches, grilled chicken BLTs and toasted orzo salad from The Wild Thyme Company. THE HIGHLIGHTS Riviera created an infield runway where Max Mara-clad models showed off summer looks. And then it was off to the divot stomp with Champagne in hand. Until next year...
