With glorious spring weather upon us, now is the perfect time to plan your next outdoor excursion. We’ve rounded up six fabulous spots to go horseback riding in San Diego, whether you’re after a sunset beach trail ride or are looking to improve upon your skills.

D & J Stables has direct access to beach trails, more than enough space for horse trailers and amenities that will keep your horse happy, healthy, and looking good. Guests can even camp on the beach with their horses and trailers.

Pony Land San Diego

Head to Pony Land for a stress-free, all-inclusive trail riding experience with no prior horse experience needed. Rides tour the Tijuana River Valley Nature Preserve and guests can choose to focus their ride on the beach, swimming or the sunset. Additionally, there are three arenas and large lights on the property, which means there’s always horseback riding to be seen in action. Surfside Ranch

Relax and enjoy a guided trail ride through coastal Border Field State Park. Guests under eight years old can ride ponies on the ranch, while guests of all ages can take riding lessons from trained equestrians and partake in breathtaking trail rides.
