La Jolla Playhouse's Innovation Night

| September 20, 2017 | Parties

It was lights, camera, action at La Jolla Playhouse’s Innovation Night.

THE PARTY It was a “Cheeseburgers in Paradise” and margarita-fueled affair as La Jolla Playhouse transformed its courtyards with Jimmy Buffett-inspired decor to toast the world-premiere musical, Escape to Margaritaville. More than 450 Parrotheads and theater enthusiasts convened for the tropical fete, which honored Qualcomm Inc. Executive Chairman Paul E. Jacobs. THE SCENE Guests, including Viracta Therapeutics Founding Chair Ivor Royston, Domain Associates partner Brian Dovey and wealth management powerhouse Clark Guy, were treated to Caribbean fare by La Cuisine as they mingled to the sounds of Bill Harris and Salsa Steel. THE HIGHLIGHTS After indulging, partygoers headed inside to view the spirited musical for the first time. But it was the more than $275,000 raised for the Playhouse’s play development and education programs that truly brought the audience to its feet. -lauren keary
