In May, artist Machine Gun Kelly walked the red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards rocking a $30,000 manicure by Nails of LA founder Brittney Boyce. Featuring more than 10 carats of diamonds, the sparkling design came to life through Boyce’s collaboration with San Diego’s own Jillian Sassone, founder of Marrow Fine, who sourced the diamond dazzlers for the manicurist. Now, Sassone has revealed the MGK collection, an 18-piece capsule that features 880 upcycled diamonds from the famous mani. In the spirit of giving, Marrow is donating all proceeds to the rock star’s alma mater, Shaker Heights High School, through the Shaker Schools Foundation, ensuring these diamonds do good. How’s that for shining bright? marrowfine.com

A flavor fiesta awaits at the corner of Grand Avenue and Carlsbad Boulevard in Carlsbad, where restaurateur Linda DiNitto—known for Italian favorite 264 Fresco—has opened her second San Diego restaurant. Enter Fresco Cocina, DiNitto’s love letter to her native Latin America. “My restaurants are a direct reflection of my culture and experiences,” shares DiNitto, who grew up in Venezuela. “It is food that I grew up eating and that my family still enjoys.” Executing that vision is chef Chris Idso, an alum of Pacifica Del Mar, Water Grill and Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa, who is serving standouts like braised short rib empanadas, Venezuelan tequeños and roasted Chilean sea bass pibil. Pair those tastes with a vibrant cocktail, such as the tequila-tinged Good Vibes, and enjoy a taste of Latin America during weekend brunch, lunch and dinner. Date night, done! frescococina.com

Interior designer Amy Meier teamed up with Hayden Lasher to create a bag out of her Hartmann&Forbes fabric, which will be featured in the handbag brand’s signature Belgian design. PHOTO COURTESY OF THE SIL
After designing a line of textiles for Hartmann&Forbes inspired by Japanese minimalism, the Bauhaus school and ancient Korean cloth traditions, Rancho Santa Fe-based interior designer Amy Meier teamed up with New York designer Hayden Lasher to create a bag out of her fabric. “A chief goal of mine was to bring these fabrics out of the windows and off the walls, and incorporate them into peoples’ lives in new and exciting ways,” says Meier, who once had a handbag line. “I upholstered furniture with it, made lampshades and sconces, and then it hit me: The fabric would make a superchic handbag.” The feminine Amy bag, available for the holidays exclusively on shopthesil.com, features black patent piping, a bow and Hayden Lasher’s signature Belgian design. “California, as a market, really embraces innovation,” says Meier, “and it definitely embraces the use of raw and sustainable materials.” amymeier.com; haydenlasher.com; hartmannforbes.com
