Almost 200 guests enjoyed an artistic celebration of all things creative at the annual Lux After Dark gala. Held at Rancho Valencia, the event combined the traditional with the unconventional by having fortune tellers, tarot readers, and a henna tattooist to entertain guests between perusal of children’s artwork in the silent auction. The live auction had bidders in some serious, but friendly, competition for a luxury New York penthouse, exclusive passes to Art Basel Miami, and a limited series of clay boy sculptures created by internationally acclaimed Finnish artist Jarmo Mäkilä who created them as part of his residency at Lux. All funds raised will support exhibition and education programs at Lux, including the new 7000 square foot Education Pavilion that opened in April and offers a variety of classes and programs for kids and adults.
