Celebrating with the Encinitas art powerhouse THE PARTY The seventh annual Lux After Dark Gala at Rancho Valencia honored San Diego arts patron Linda Brandes. THE SCENE The marathon gala kicked off with a cocktail hour, music by The Red Fox Tails and a Neiman Marcus fall fashion showcase. Then it was off to the main event, where guests dined alfresco and caught a live performance by five-time Grammy-nominated retro sensation Ambrosia. The night ended with a DJ and cocktails in the La Sala room. BEST IN SHOW Lux Director Reesey Shaw presented gala honoree Linda Brandes with the Luxie, Lux’s version of the Oscar. The art institute provides educational programs for San Diego youth and continues to inspire with its artist-in-residence program, luring top names from around the world. During four-week stints, artists work and stay in the Lux apartment, where they help foster an appreciation of the creative process. This month, check out visiting NYC painter Emilio Perez.
