THE PARTY The VIP preview party of the stage adaptation of His Girl Friday, directed by Christopher Ashley at the Mandell Weiss Theatre THE SCENE The witty repartee between leads Walter Burns and Hildy Johnson (played by Douglas Sills and Jenn Lyon) had the audience perched on the edges of their seats, hanging on every word of the rapid-fire, rat-a-tat-tat romance. Ashley and Managing Director Michael S. Rosenberg gave a shoutout to members of the Director’s Circle, including Joan and Irwin Jacobs, Sheri L. and Stuart W. Jamieson, Becky Moores, Lucille and Ron Neeley, and the Dr. Seuss Fund. THE HIGHLIGHT A post-theater dance party included fare from Roy Yamaguchi, who just rolled out a new concept menu at his La Jolla location, which is also home to his new test kitchen. And of course, there were fave brews on tap from Stone, which just opened its long-awaited Point Loma location. As for upcoming playbills, check out this issue’s Radar Culture (“Stomping Grounds”) for a preview of the LJP’s upcoming Sideways, with S.D. alum Rex Pickett.
