Cassie Dudley never imagined that her Instagram posts showing off husband Brett’s scrumptious dinners would spark a thriving business.
“People started private messaging us, asking if we could make them meals as well, and we quickly realized there was a gap in the meal-prep industry,” says Brett. That’s when the restaurant industry vets found they could make high-end fare that the average foodie could really enjoy, while focusing on health and wellness.
Almost three years later, the couple’s Pure Meal Prep (puremealprepsd.com) business not only is alive and well in San Diego, but it even has expanded during the throes of a pandemic. “We noticed the uptick came from those who still wanted to eat delicious meals, but wanted to stay safe by staying home and following our state guidelines,” says Brett. “The fact that you never have to leave your home makes our service more desirable.”
Along with increased orders, Brett and Cassie have been able to hire outof-work restaurant employees for their team, and they also instituted a new program that donates one meal to a front-line hospital worker each time a customer orders from their ever-changing, seasonal menu of flavorful, made-from-scratch meals. (Think Southwestern turkey chili with jalapeno cheddar cornbread, and shrimp and andouille chicken sausage jambalaya, just to name a couple.)
