Color the season fabulous with a visit to one of these San Diego showstoppers.

1 Take in the works of LUX Art Institute’s artist-in-residence, Xawery Wolski, through Jan. 7. The curation focuses on new sculptural pieces related to the idea of dress—a consistent medium in his masterpieces.

2 Launching Dec. 15, Dimensions of Black: A Collaboration With the San Diego African American Museum of Fine Art will be on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. Enjoy works from Sam Gilliam, Jack Whitten and more.

3 Through Jan. 29, California steals the spotlight at the Museum of Photographic Arts for the third triennial exhibition of contemporary photographers during Boundless: A California Invitational. Expect an eclectic mix of photos from artists throughout the state.

4 San Diego Museum of Art will showcase Louis Kahn: The Power of Architecture through Jan. 31. The exhibit encompasses two decades of Kahn’s architectural prowess, including a retrospective on Salk Institute in La Jolla.

5 Downtown at SDSU’s cozy gallery, the Depravities & Monuments exhibition will be on display through Jan. 29. The selection features art from two incisive series by L.A.-based creative Sandow Birk.
