A milestone has been reached at Oceanside Museum of Art (oma-online.org), where the institution is celebrating its 25th anniversary. To toast the occasion, the entire first floor of the museum has been transformed into a two-part exhibit titled Legacy: 25 Years of Art and Community, curated by the esteemed Danielle Dreery. The Bob and Estelle Gleason Gallery is home to The Early Years (1997-2011) until Jan. 29, which showcases iconic paintings, drawings and sculptures from OMA’s very first collections. Meanwhile, The Recent Years (2012-2021), held in the Rusty and Bebe Grosse Gallery through Feb. 19, features standout artwork from exhibits from the past 10 years. Together, the incredible displays trace OMA’s path to becoming a renowned cultural hub for contemporary art. Yes, what’s old is new again.
