PEERS Pressure

The Party
The PEERS Network gala, which has become a mustattend event on S.D.’s social circuit, was held at the lavish La Jolla Farms home of Michelle and Bill Lerach. And for the second year, the Challenged Athletes Foundation was the soiree’s sole beneficiary.

The People
Talk was not cheap on this night as Alana Nichols took to the stage. The first female Paralympian to win gold medals at both the summer and winter games (wheelchair basketball and sit ski) compelled guests to raise more than $100,000 for the locally based charity. Her speech was topped only by the inaugural Inspiration Award presented in memory of the late actor Robin Williams, a devoted CAF supporter who competed in the annual triathlon fundraiser multiple times over the years.

Best in Show
The auction featured an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2015 PGA U.S. Open, but partygoers got really revved thanks to the Triumph motorcycles on the auction block, including an exact replica of Steve McQueen’s ride from The Great Escape. Talk about a ticket to ride. -Photos by Bekah Peace
