THE PARTY Taking over two floors of Neiman Marcus, S.D. Opera co-chairs Teresa and Harry Hixson hosted an evening of bubbles, baubles, bites and beneficence. THE SCENE Butterflies dripped from the ceiling and orange was declared the new neutral as models catwalked fashions from the likes of Gucci, Escada, Alexander McQueen and Zac Posen. Sipping on Champagne, guests compared favorite moments from the 2013 opera season and saluted the Student Ticket Initiative, which underwrites tickets for local university students. THE HIGHLIGHTS The Prado provided delicate nibbles in shades of coral and orange, the evening’s signature hue: Forked shrimp cocktail with avocado mousse and lobster BLTs served on spoons disappeared as quickly as the mango-splashed Operatinis from Panache Productions. In between stylist consultations and jaunts to the dressing room, guests sat for mini manis featuring summer shades in the Deborah Lippman nail polish collection. Photography by J.Dixx
