The Party Young performers from the San Diego Youth Symphony played a musical greeting as Bill and Susan Hoehn opened their Rancho Santa Fe home for an unforgettable night of classical music performances. The evening’s star performer? None other than former Secretary of State, Dr. Condoleezza Rice. The Scene Anticipation of the luminary’s arrival ran high, but poolside taste teasers (and prosecco) helped settle nerves. When guests adjourned to the library, Dr. Rice took to the Steinway to accompany the Muir Quartet. After the concert, dinner was a sumptuous meal of pan-seared scallops, rack of lamb and limoncello panna cotta from Giuseppe Restaurants and Fine Catering. The Highlights Nearly $200,000 was raised for Classics for Kids, which provides matching grants to bring music programs and string instruments to at-risk youth. “Our world will be a little better with each young student we touch,” said Rita Lancaster-Hannah, a board member and longtime friend of Dr. Rice who helped orchestrate the evening. “Classics for Kids fills a critical void for schools,” said Dr. Rice.
