The Party
Talk about shoe envy. If there were ever a place to stare at other women’s shoes without apology, this Voices for Children soiree is it. More than 300 women strode into the Cielo clubhouse in Rancho Santa Fe for the third annual event.
The People
This year’s glam coterie of co-chairs included Patricia Brutten, Becca Craig, Gina Ellis, Holly Ellison, Marina Marrelli and Genta Luddy, whose husband just graced the cover of Forbes magazine. The afternoon included nibbles and a wine tasting from several vintners, including Gen 7. Riviera’s lounge—decked out by Pow Wow and with lush florals by Tenfold Style—was a shady haven on this sunny afternoon. A fashion show curated by S.D. stylist Kristi Brooks included looks from Max Mara, Halston Heritage and Ted Baker.
Best in Show
The event raised nearly $200,000 to help fund the charity’s Court Appointed Special Advocates program, which helps foster youth in San Diego. But let’s not forget the “sole” of the matter: The winner of the inaugural Best in Shoe contest was Luddy for her red, bejeweled Valentino pumps.
