ROMP Gala in Del Mar

Fun House
Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego hosted its annual ROMP Gala in Del Mar.

Paging the 1980s! Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego channeled the vibrant era with a House Party theme at its annual gala. Held at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar, the fete transformed the hotel with bold decor, a photo booth featuring a handcrafted cassette tape backdrop, and acrobatic bartenders.

Carrie Campbell, Leslie Mannes, Jamie Straza and Fernanda Whitworth helmed the executive committee, while board of trustees chair Brian Cahill personally donated $75,000 in memory of his parents. Founding ROMP chair Mary Drake also attended with husband and board of trustees member Hudson Drake.

The evening’s real showstopper came when the Hoehn Motors Porsche Raffle raised $556,698 for critically ill or injured children being treated at local hospitals. Hoehn Motors Carlsbad donated a 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster for the much-anticipated drawing, and excitement stirred as James Frybarger Jr. took home the grand prize. Now that’s the ultimate party favor!
