Here’s what’s making a splash this season in sunny San Diego.
Inspired by the arrival of her first child, Lawless Beauty founder Annie Lawless Jacobs has created a new collection that pays homage to her daughter, Daisy. The Baby One Collection includes a travel-friendly mini version of Lawless’ The Little One mini eye shadow palette with a romantic twist. Eight rich shades, from creamy mattes to reflective metallics, complement a variety of skin tones and eye colors. Meanwhile, The Baby Lipstick maintains Lawless’ commitment to clean, nontoxic beauty and features a neutral baby pink hue in a creamy satin formula. To give back to mothers everywhere, 10% of sales from the collection will benefit Every Mother Counts, a cause close to the San Diego-based mom’s heart.
Following a multimillion-dollar makeover, Town and Country Resort in Mission Valley is welcoming locals and guests alike. “The renovation was created to build upon a legacy that will guide the property for the next 60 years,” says Vice President and Managing Director April Shute. A glittering pool deck; three new dining destinations—including the signature ARLO restaurant and poolside eatery Lapper—and 675 new guest rooms await. Request one of five top-floor Skyline suites to take in wall-to-wall views.
Segues is the latest solo exhibition from artist Jens Rossen at Sparks Gallery in the Gaslamp Quarter. “The approach to my work is to capture balanced energy within the space of a painting using only abstraction,” says Rossen, an expressionist painter who hails from Denmark. “The series Segues is a collection of paintings finished in a six-month period from March to September 2020. This series was influenced by high levels of unrest and impatience externally and internally during that time.” The 13 featured works of art are an engaging display of color and what Rossen calls a “journal of paintings that chronicle the disparate paths of what is being created and its connectivity to what was created before.”
