The San Diego Film Foundation celebrated its annual “And the Award Goes To...” Oscars Viewing Party.
THE PARTY It was a dazzling evening in La Jolla as partygoers toasted to the San Diego Film Foundation’s annual Oscars viewing party at a private hilltop residence. Proceeds from the affair benefited the foundation’s initiative to shine a spotlight on independent filmmakers, global issues and its local educational outreach program. THE SCENE Greeted by an elegant red carpet, honorary chair Kristi Pieper and Foundation chairman and co-founder Dale Strack, among others, stopped by the step-and-repeat to enjoy their own Hollywood moment before heading inside for cuisine from top chefs, including The Marine Room’s Bernard Guillas. From lamb arrosticini and lobster bisque to mahi ceviche street tacos and queso mac and cheese, bites went beyond the standard movie fare of popcorn and candy. THE HIGHLIGHTS As A-listers took home the film industry’s most coveted award on the poolside big-screen TV, attendees indulged in Snake Oil Cocktail Co.’s cheeky drinks, aptly titled The Academy, Best Dressed and Red Carpet Hot, as the sun set over the Pacific. -Allison Mitchell
