San Diego International Film Festival Variety Night of the Stars

THE PARTY Hollywood gathered at Pendry San Diego to bestow awards, including the annual Gregory Peck Award for Excellence in Cinema, which went to Sir Patrick Stewart and was awarded by Peck’s daughter, Cecilia Peck. The festive ceremony kicked off a week of features, documentaries and short films. THE GUESTS Jeffrey Lyons and Scott Mantz co-hosted the event, and executive and artistic director Tonya Mantooth delivered remarks. Kumail Nanjiani, Heather Graham, Taran Killam and Blake Jenner also took home awards. THE HIGHLIGHTS Nanjiani, awarded the Auteur award for his work on The Big Sick, delivered a laugh-out-loud acceptance, and guests stayed for a Q&A between Lyons and Stewart, who talked about Stewart’s longtime admiration-turned-friendship with Gregory Peck. -Andrea Bennett
