The end of summer? Already, really? Worry not. While Labor Day weekend is speedily approaching there is a fabulous array of activities and specials happening in the city that are seriously worth checking out. Del Mar Racetrack’s biggest race of the year, Concerts at the Rady Shell, brunch at The Intercontinental, and shopping at the chic One Paseo are set to make this Labor Day weekend a memorable one.

Date: Sunday, Sept. 4
Visit Vistal at The InterContinental for a special Labor Day brunch and sweeping views of the bay. There will be live music from Bruno Serrano from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and JNSQ Rose for $10 a glass as well as JNSQ swag. The menu will include freshly baked pastries, breakfast sandwiches, quiche, birria tacos, and casarecce pasta with pesto alla Trapanese, among other brunch and lunch favorites. Brunch will run from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., adults cost $39, and kids 5 to 12 years old cost $29.

Head to Del Mar Racetrack for the most important race of the season, the TVG Pacific Classic. The winning horse and jockey will be awarded $1,000,000 and advance to the horse racing world championship, the Breeders’ Cup. Grab a drink, don your chicest racetrack fit, and enjoy a day of exciting competition.

Bring the whole family to a fun-filled day at the racetrack at the track’s first family event since 2019. There will be rock climbing walls, bungee trampolines, inflatable obstacle courses, games, face painters, and a meet and greet with the Pony Boy mascot. Admission is free for all children under 18 for this special event.

Date: Sunday, Sept. 4
Vibe out to a night of jazz from the best of the best. Jazz at Lincoln Center, or JLCO to their fans, is made up of 15 jazz musicians that have been touring and performing together for over 30 years. They’re also the resident orchestra at Lincoln Center in New York. For this special performance, there will be a set by the Young Lions Jazz Conservatory at 6:15 p.m., before the show’s 7:30 p.m. start. Tickets can be purchased here.

Close out the traditional summer season with a Labor Day baseball game. The Padres will face off against the Arizona Diamondbacks at 3:40 p.m., making it a great fit for an afternoon excursion with your crew. Following the game, Frozen II will premiere on the stadium’s screens and guests can experience the frosty magic under the warm San Diego sun. Tickets can be purchased here.
