The Party
The recently revamped One Columbia Place was the ideal spot to host the crowd of design lovers who flocked to the mod structure on this night.
The People
A-listers in the house included architect Nathan Lee Colkitt, interior designer Michael Soriano, man-about-town Spencer Caldwell Evans and design aficionado Leslee Schaffer, who recently founded a new S.D.-based collective (see this issue’s Design Spotlight for details).
Best in Show
The event featured a fall fashion preview courtesy of top designers including Lanvin, Barbara Bui and Berluti. Translation: tweed and fringe, rock ’n’ roll-chic and serious boots for the boys. With cocktails and cookies from The Cravory in hand, guests roamed the newly minted mixed-use space, which is bedecked with angular balconies both inside and out. The inaugural fest is an extension of the Newport Beach Film Festival, founded by San Diegan Todd Quartararo, who wants to bring a tightly honed rendition of the event to the Southland with a focus on advertising, architecture, art, fashion, interiors, landscape and urban planning.
