After seeing massive success with their inaugural season in 2021, The Rady Shell, an architectural wonder on the edge of the San Diego Bay, continues to offer year-round music, blue skies, and saltwater sea. This attractive bayside entertainment space will accommodate a sensational lineup of stellar artists and performances for their second ever summer season.
The Rady Shell will feature a wide range of world class artists and ensembles this summer, including their very own San Diego Symphony, as well as other classical performers, jazz musicians, pop entertainers, R&B artists, composers, playwrights, producers, and comedians. Among the opening weekend’s lineup are Grammy Award winning vocal groups, inducted Hall of Fame members, and SNL alumni.
Sunday, June 19 at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 7:30 p.m. / The Rady Shell: Steve Martin and Martin Short
Between the two renowned comedians, the list of crowning achievements goes on and on. Both are SNL alumni, Hollywood stars, and have won multiple awards. In this show, Steve Martin and Martin Short will play with self-deprecating humor, roasts of one another, big (and sudden) punchlines, and rapid fire comedic timing. Although this performance comes just a few days before the opening weekend of The Rady Shell, this is a pre-season show that you won’t want to miss.

From conductor Rafael Payare, the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, and guest pianist Joyce Yang comes Pictures at an Exhibition, a suite of ten Promenade-themed pieces composed by Modest Mussorgsky. The performers hope to have you “seeing in orchestral technicolor” after hearing the beautiful symphonic sounds and entrancing concerto.

Boyz II Men, an iconic R&B group, brings their celebrated classics and Billboard hits to The Rady Shell. Alongside them will be conductor Christopher Dragon and the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. Don’t miss out on the performance of a lifetime as they remind audiences of their acclaimed talents.
Sunday, June 26 at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 7:30 p.m. / The Rady Shell: Straight, No Chaser
Thelonious Monk, one of jazz’s most influential figures and the second most recorded jazz musician of all time, will be joining Gilbert Castellanos, Gerald Clayton, and several other artists, as well as special guest Charles McPherson, for an evening that will be off the charts. One of the few programs this weekend that does not feature the San Diego Symphony, this event will showcase the talents of the Young Lions Jazz Conservatory during the pre-show set at 6:15 p.m.
