Sea Change

| July 8, 2016 | Parties National

THE PARTY Farm-to-fork? Try sea-to-plate! With a jam-packed agenda, the Berry Good Food Foundation found itself setting the table at 1500 Ocean—Hotel Del Coronado’s iconic eatery—for its monthly multicourse dinner and fundraiser. The menu focused on sustainable seafood paired with produce straight from the hotel’s seafront garden. THE SCENE Famous San Diego chefs appeared in throngs, but the headliner was James Montejano—La V’s former cuisinier who’s now helming Cardiff’s Seaside Market. Other VIPs included wellness guru Louise Hay and Kashi founders Gayle and Phil Tauber. THE HIGHLIGHTS In signature Berry Good fashion, more than 100 partygoers were welcomed by adorable calfs, goats and baby chicks—perfect for petting and photo ops. The open-air supper offered riveting table discussions with top Baja winemakers, farmers and ranchers alongside S.D.’s finest chefs. Of course, the deluxe dishes and drinks stole the show. The tangerine kombucha and rum cocktails were a buzzy megahit thanks to Boochcraft, and Montejano wowed the crowd with his “tidal pool” seafood medley.
