Head into the season with these hot new styles.
PQ Swim
This “cabana chic” swim and resort wear line based in Torrey Preserve offers everything a woman needs to go from sunup to sundown with style and confidence. Inspired by life’s travels, owner Amber Delecce-Forge employs soft fabrics and hand-woven macramé detailing in PQ Swim’s whimsical, feminine and edgy designs— featuring unique prints, specialty textures and sculpted silhouettes. New for March are bright embroidered floral prints, available as halter or triangular top bikinis, or as one-pieces—with matching cover-ups to boot. Bold primary colors, from a sunny yellow textured bikini to a tomato heather halter with banded high-waist bottom, are also sure to catch eyes. Later this spring, PQ Swim will unveil stunning turquoise, metallic and patterned designs. pqswim.com
Sauvage Swimwear
Based in Miramar, Sauvage Swimwear’s owner and designer Elizabeth Southwood sources fabric and accessories from Europe to create her fashion-forward swimwear line for men and women. Southwood’s suits appear in Sports Illustrated and on celebrities like Lady Gaga, Heidi Klum and Paris Hilton. Since 1985, the trendy brand—which also has a Miami flagship on South Beach—has incorporated fine Italian textiles, choice hardware and Swarovski crystals into innovative designs, from ocean-inspired to resort-intended. Seasonal favorites include the white Malibu triangle and bandeau tops, with red- and black-striped trim, and the Wildside Tiger suits, featuring a jungle-themed print with tropical flowers and tigers and gold chain straps. sauvagewear.com
With modesty in mind, Siena and Co. skips barely there styles for silhouettes that cover in style. Ethically produced in Los Angeles using Repreve recycled fabric and eco-friendly packaging, Siena and Co. is giving women flattering swimwear options to mix and match for an individualized fit. Founded in April 2020, the brand’s debut Classics Collection includes the classic swim dress—which looks like a one-piece, but has separate bottoms—and the reversible wrap top, which can be worn forward or backward and tied in a variety of ways. siena-co.com
Swamis Swimwear
A competitive swimmer since age 8, Kelsey Kafka struggled to find comfortable and flattering suits. What began as a mother-and-daughter summer project of designing and sewing bikinis in San Diego quickly turned into a full-blown line, launched in June 2015. Swamis Swimwear is handcrafted in Los Angeles, with sustainability at the forefront. The current line is made from deadstock, or discarded fabric, as well as eco-materials produced with less water, dye and energy for low environmental impact. The spring 2022 line features recycled fabrics in retro floral prints, and each order includes a reusable linen bag. swamisswimwear.com
ViX Paula Hermanny
Growing up in Brazil, Paula Hermanny dreamed of bringing Brazilian beach fashion to the U.S.—and in the early 2000s, she introduced her luxury line. This spring, the Kearny Mesa-based brand is highlighting beach-chic tones, starting with cool blues and greens, and then heating up into warmer orange and yellow tones. Signature animal prints get a blue and gray makeover, while classic camouflage gets deconstructed for a brand-new look. Details like gold chains, sequin embroidery, handmade glazing and flattering cutouts are key to the designs, which come in versatile textures and prints perfect for on and off the beach. vixpaulahermanny.com
