THE PARTY More than 300 theater lovers dined and danced in dazzling black-tie for the Old Globe’s 2015 gala in Balboa Park. Copley Plaza was magically transformed into a 1930s supper club, dubbed Club 3515. THE GUESTS A round of applause went to the donors for their support of the world-renowned theater and Broadway incubator. The who’s who guest list included Audrey Geisel, Darlene Marcos Shiley, Vicki and Carl Zeiger, Sheryl and Harvey White, Jo Ann Kilty, and the peripatetic Conrad Prebys and Debra Turner. THE HIGHLIGHTS The opening act belonged to Artistic Director and Bard hotshot Barry Edelstein, who was upstaged only by Carmen Cusack, the showstopping actress in Bright Star. Cusack belted out several numbers including a sneak peek of songs from the upcoming Rain, which marks Edelstein’s musical directing debut in November. The Cab Calloway Orchestra capped off the evening as soiree attendees twirled and turned to the sweet sounds of swing. Bravo! –Photography by Douglas Gates
