The Bro Show

| October 25, 2011 | Parties

THE PARTY A sold-out crowd of more than 400 surf execs and pros came out for the industry’s biggest fundraiser. The Liquid Nation Ball 8 was held at the Bird Rock manse of Fernando Aguerre, co-founder of Reef and the evening’s colorful host. THE PLAYERS Pro surfers Jordy Smith, Dane Gudauskas, Brett Simpson, Rabbit Bartholomew, Miguel Pupo, Adrian Buchan and Pat O’Connell. Also in the house: ESPN host Sal Masekela. THE HIGHLIGHTS The Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA) honored Keep A Breast Foundation founder Shaney Jo Darden as its Humanitarian of the Year. The live (and lively) auction featured dream trips and custom boards, but the highest bid of $16,000 went to an intimate Lakers experience with legendary NBA Hall of Famer Bill Walton. The evening’s real show-stealer was Reef co-founder Santiago Aguerre, who offered heartfelt thanks for the support his daughter received after being injured in a car accident last year.
