After winding down the clandestine Cow By Bear dinner series last year, elusive Chef Bear, Osa Bear and protege Lil’ Osito Bear—whose true identities remain a mystery—are back with a new rendition of their unique pop-up dining experience. Created in conjunction with a forthcoming cookbook of the same name and set to run for one year only, Food by Bear explores menu themes based on experiences from time spent overseas in countries including France, Italy, Argentina and South Africa. Operating out of several secret locations around town, the format remains unchanged (one table, 14 seats, five courses and fine wine pairings), but with limited eight-week runs per region, reservations should be made now to secure a spot at San Diego’s most eclectic supper club. $195 per person
